I’m a seeker of new experiences. If we’re here for a finite amount of time, I want to explore as much as I possibly can. Exploring doesn’t only relate to travel. It relates to trying new things, meeting new people, challenging myself to do something that’s outside of my comfort zone. That might be skydiving or writing a script, asking someone out or traveling solo. I feel like when I push myself to do new things, I see the world differently and the scope of what I thought was possible expands far beyond what I believed were my limits.

I titled the first script I ever wrote, Phoenix. Before I get into why, I’ll go into why I even STARTED writing ten years ago. At the time, I was booking the same roles over and over again, which was essentially the bitchy, rebellious teenager. And as grateful as I was for the work (sometimes more-so than others), I was itching to book roles that excited me. I finally came to the conclusion that if that was going to happen, I had to take the matter into my own hands.

When I was two months old, my mom was dying to get back to Brazil to see her family, so we hopped on a plane. From that moment, whether she knew it or not, I caught the travel bug. We were constantly visiting Sao Paulo, and we were fortunate enough to take family trips throughout my childhood. My parents met in Japan, so it makes sense that travel would be an important part of our family dynamic, and the catalyst of some of the best experiences of my life.
