Music History Lesson
Let’s take it back…
Music has always been a passion of mine. When I was a kid I wanted to be a singer and a scientist. Not much has changed :P Music is a huge part of my life. When I was younger, I was super insecure, and the thought of sharing my innermost personal thoughts terrified me. Acting was easier for me because I was only exposing one side of myself, but eventually, I couldn’t keep my lyrics and melodies to myself.
I started a 7 piece jazz band and decided that for my very first show, I would create a full 30 person production. I named the show DREAM and spent 6 painstaking weeks preparing for every immersive aspect: coordinating/planning the story around the dancers, the magician, the harlequin bartenders, the mime, the dream guide, the live painter, the tickets, the wardrobe, the band, the songs, the lighting, the singers, the story, the furniture, the props, the lines! It was my most ambitious undertaking during that time period, and it tested every aspect of my being; physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, etc… It was the first time I took what was in my imagination and brought it to life. I had no idea if it would work. If people would get it. If I would make it through without losing my mind. But I did. And it was really successful! It taught me to trust my creative instincts.
LET IT BURN
I worked with many different producers trying to figure out my sound. It was a tough time period. I wrote what felt like 100 songs. But eventually, the work let me to @houstonfry, an incredibly talented composer who had started taking on album projects. He’s never afraid to take risks and we love hanging out in the studio together planning our takeover muahaha.
The EP will consist of 5 songs and will be released in tandem with music videos through the end of the year, culminating in an EP release party. My music is a combination of soul, ballads, pop, rock, with some nice, bassy beats. I’m constantly evolving as an artist, and this EP will be a clear reflection of that.
